The Extra Costs you can expect to pay if you are Purchasing Property (Zie Nederlands beneden)
You need to allow for about 5% (higher priced properties) to 15% (lower priced properties) of the purchase price in additional costs (besides the deposit of 10% of purchase price to secure the property, paid when both parties sign the preliminary contract at the solicitor or notary.

To aquire a fiscal number (tax card) 5.93 per person
Lawyers fees (somewhere between 750 and 1250 euros). You do not need to instruct a lawyer and can go directly through the Government notary

between 123.682€ to 168.638€ = 5% minus 1.281€,
between 168.638€ to 281.030€ = 7% minus 2.283€,
between 281.030€ to 538.978€ = 8% minus 4.193€ and
all property above 521.700 = 6%
2008 IMT Purchase Tax on properties registered as "Rustic" (= land)
Land (rustico) only - 5%
Storage houses (arrecadacao) - 6.5%
At completion the Notary and Land Registration Fees - Together will total around 1000€

Fire insurance
A fire insurance is compulsory. It is calculated/estimated according to the location and surface area of the house.
Rates
Every year you will be asked to pay a Council Tax called IMI. This has to be paid whether the property is used/occupied or not.
Depending on which Council you fall under, the amount calculated will be between .7% and 1.3% of the value the property has been appraised at by the Tax department (usually lower than the purchase price or market value).

Dit moet worden betaald of het bezit wordt gebruikt/of niet. Dit hangt ook af in welke gemeente u woonachtig bent. (tussen 0,7% en 1,3% van de waarde het bezit. (Geschatte waarde van uw woning is meestal lager.)
